These Seniors Want to be Your Next Pet

Just like a fine wine, pets only get better with age. This is why ASPCA is so excited that November is Adopt a Senior Pet Month!

Though often overlooked, senior pets are just as deserving of loving homes as their younger counterparts. Plus, they’re already set in their ways with their own personalities so, you can likely find a senior who has all the personality traits you’re looking for. Older pets have also likely grown out of their childish habits like accidents in the house and are more likely to settle into a home quicker as they often have past experience living in homes among people and other pets.

This month, we encourage you to leave your expectations behind and open your heart and home to an animal with a few extra birthday candles! Ready to meet your new pet? Check out these ASPCA senior pets looking for someone to love them for exactly who they are!

Save tigers from poachers

Only an estimated 3,800 tigers remain in the wild. A century of poaching and habitat destruction has decimated the global tiger population, which has declined from 100,000 to an estimated 3,800

The Tiger range has been reduced by 93%, and 3 of 9 subspecies have already gone extinct.

  • Despite international legal protections, approximately 150 wild tigers are killed annually to satisfy the demand for illicit products. These range from traditional medicines and virility tonics made from tiger bones to decorative items made from their pelts, claws, and teeth.
  • -93% Tiger range has been reduced by 93%.150 Approximately 150 wild tigers are killed annually to satisfy the demand for illicit products.3 Of the 9 tiger subspecies, 3 have gone extinct. Tigers remain in only 13 countries.
  • Making an impact Although most prevalent in Mainland China, demand for tiger products also exists in Japan, Singapore, South Korea, and the United States. WildAid is part of the International Tiger Coalition, which is comprised of 42 environmental, zoological, and animal protection groups. Together, the coalition is calling for a permanent ban on the trade in tiger parts and products.
  • To reduce demand for tiger products, WildAid uses our unique communications model with a primary focus on China. We collaborate across all sectors of Chinese society; working with the government, businesses, media partners, and celebrities to encourage attitudinal and behavioral change to reduce demand for tiger products.
  • In partnership with Shanghai Media Group, WildAid produced a 50-minute television documentary about tiger conservation starring three prominent Chinese musicians: The Voice of China coach Liu Huan, and two of his protégés, who are The Voice winners, Wei Lu and Huo Zun. In the film, the trio travels to India to see tigers in the wild, learn about the local cultural significance of tigers, and understand the threats to their survival.

  • All proceeds from this donation campaign will go to WildAid, which is an environmental organization based in San Francisco  Their direct link is included here:  or copy and paste:  www.wildaid.org

Army Veteran Needs Vehicle Repairs

This fundraising is for an Army soldier and his family who are currently transitioning from active duty due to his numerous medical appointments, his spouse had to leave her job to take care of their special needs child. He has yet to begin receiving his VA compensation, and it may be a month or more before he does.

This has created tremendous financial hardship for the family, as their last active duty pay was received in April, and was missing their expected housing allowance.

With your support to cover housing for two months, we can provide much-needed stability for this family so they do not suffer any additional setbacks at this critical time.

You can donate here, and ALL the proceeds will be forwarded to “Operation Home Front” or you can go directly to their donation site here (copy and paste)
